Seven Actions That Protect Conservation Practices and Sites
  1. Clearly mark each practice or site on a field map and post in an accessible place.

  2. Utilize a standard color and a standard type post to mark conservation sites in each field.

  3. Install and protect any available signs that designate a conservation area.

  4. Twice a year conduct formal training for all employees describing the type of conservation practices and things that cannot be done near the site.

  5. Utilize a shielded sprayer in every possible situation.

  6. Prior to the season, furnish all custom applicators with field maps that have conservation sites clearly marked and precautionary statements about each.

  7. Once a year visit the appropriate NRCS/SWCD office and discuss the condition and function of all conservation practices on your farm. This will be an excellent time to discuss additional practices or programs available to you.
